New necklace

**UPDATE**
Thanks to Katie for commenting on this post - she actually makes these necklaces!! You can e-mail her at noligoods@gmail.com if you'd like one for yourself.

-----

No, I didn't get another cupcake necklace. But I did find this fun necklace at Park Life in the Inner Richmond:

Perfect for any San Francisco lover, like me! Unfortunately I can't find it on-line.

Merry Christmas!!!

Some Christmas cheer from San Francisco:

why yes, there is a house under all that decoration
(found on 21st between Noe & Castro)

and from Google:

Elf is one of my holiday movie favorites. Doesn't DC make a good Will Ferrell?

Cupcakes @ Google - Day 3

Day 3 of cupcake invasion - Thursday. A team member ordered some Sprinkles cupcakes for a review session. 30 beauties including the sampler and some holiday flavors.

As much as I wanted to go for the lemon or banana, I resisted tradition and went for the chocolate peppermint. It was delicious, but a little dry. I find that mint extract sometimes has that effect on cupcakes. There was also an egg nog but I didn't try it. Anyone had the Sprinkles holiday egg nog cupcake?

Meat Cake

The 13th was Scott's birthday and this year he decided he wanted me to make another meat cake. For those uninitiated, the meat cake is a 3 layer meatloaf "frosted" with mashed potatoes. Like the first time I made the meat cake, I made a "matching" regular cake - 3 layer cake with white buttercream frosting. The spread also included my cupcake menorah and some cupcake kebobs (which I've been wanting to try since seeing them on Cupcakes Take the Cake).

notice the peas used for decoration on the meat cake

Cupcakes @ Google - Day 2

Day 2 of the week of cupcake invasion involved the one and only Sprinklesmobile!! I had heard through the grapevine that the truck was in the Bay but then I got the wonderful news that it would be stopping by Google for 30 minutes on Wednesday afternoon. Clearly I marked my calendar and was there right after it arrived.

Best part - these were on Google!!

See the cute Google dots?

As much as I really wanted to try a pumpkin cupcake, the siren call of my beautiful strawberry was too tempting. Luckily I ran into my friend Dr. J in line so she nagged a pumpkin and we shared. This is why it's always best to enjoy cupcakes with a friend - you can try more flavors!

As expected the strawberry was delicious. I was even able to convince Dr. J, normally not a fan of fruit cupcakes, of it's superiority. It's all about the real fruit. The pumpkin was also quite delicious. Perfectly moist. Sprinkles remains my favorite west coast cupcakery.

Now, about that Sprinklesmobile. Out of curiosity I wrote to Sprinkles to find out how much it would set me back to order the truck to an event. Here's what I learned:

"There is a $1000 minimum which includes 120 cupcakes and one hour of service. Additional cupcakes are $3 each and additional service hours are $200/hour. You may select any cupcake flavors we offer for the day of the event!"

A bit steep for my needs, but there's always traditional Sprinkles delivery :).

Happy (belated) Hanukkah

Hanukkah 2009 has come and gone and I forgot to post the cupcakes I made for the occasion:

It's a menorah! I saw the idea somewhere on the interwebs, so I'm not original, but cute, right? I used Oreo cookie sticks and yellow peanut M&Ms for the candles.

Cupcakes @ Google - Day 1

This past week was the week of cupcakes at work. 3 separate cupcake events. Clearly fantastic.

First up - Tuesday. Sibby's cupcakes and the musical stylings of a local high school choir.

400 cupcakes were gone in 20 minutes. No joke. Luckily I was able to snag one for myself and one for my sister (now a Googler herself!).

As usual, Sibby's cupcakes were amazing. I made short order of the Butter Cup on the left.

Random Cupcake Goodness from Urban Outfitters

I love browsing Urban Outfitters apartment goods. They're a little quirky and they add new stuff pretty frequently so it's one of my favorite "window shopping" stops on the web. They currently have a pretty odd assortment of cupcake related items. Some a little odder than others:

Cupcake lipgloss - I've seen this before so I'm pretty sure they've had them for awhile.

Cupcake Ornament #1 - They have this every Christmas. I have something very similar, but not exactly the same. Maybe one year when I get an actual Christmas tree I'll start collecting cupcake ornaments. For now, though, one is fine. New though, this year, are these two ornaments which they are calling cupcakes but I'm not sure a stuffed animal head and a cupcake wrapper make a cupcake.

Kinda creepy.

DIY Cupcake - when you want to paint your own (I have done this but at one of those ceramic paint your own places)

Cupcake on a Rope - suuuuure. What every girl needs.

Bonjour Cupcake - semi-ugly wall decoration. I'm torn. I like it because it says "Bonjour Cupcake," but it's kinda hideous. Maybe in an ironic way? I can't decide.

The Cupcake Deck - a box with a pack of cards with cupcake recipes on them. Not going to lie, totally own this. Someone bought it for me but I can't remember who, so if it was you, tell me and then make me feel bad for being so insensitive (sorry!).

I do have a coupon to Urban and I don't really want to spend it on clothes (sorry, Urban, but your clothes are over-priced), so I might get "Bonjour Cupcake." The rest though, not a huge fan (except for the cupcake deck, which is awesome and I already own).
