Since I was in a blogging slump last summer I never wrote about the fantastic ice cream tasting trip I took through SF with BK and HK. Inspired by this list of Bay Area artisan ice cream makers, we hit 10 ice cream shops in one day. It was sugar overload for sure!
# 1 - Gelateria Naia in North Beach - very creamy, delicious gelato
# 2 - Swenson's in Russian Hill - old fashioned, tasty, and delicious
Pit stop # 1 - Za Pizzeria in Russian Hill (there were a few, much needed salt stops)
# 3 - Tango Gelato in Pacific Heights - also tasty but I believe I liked Naia better
# 4 - Three Twins Ice Cream in the Lower Haight - home of the AMAZING lemon cookie ice cream (which I have lusted after ever since)

Love this adorable photo of HK
# 5 - Bombay Ice Cream in the Mission - didn't love this stop
Pit stop # 2 - Frjtz in the Mission - home to really tasty Belgian style fries and dipping sauces
#6 - the one and only Bi Rite Creamery
#8 - Humphry Slocombe in the Mission - where the line was long and the ice cream was strange, but delicious (I particularly enjoyed the spicy chocolate and olive oil scoops I chose)
# 9 - Maggie Mudd in Bernal Heights - great for vegans as there is a whole vegan menu. I had Snookers, which is peanut butter ice cream with a caramel swirl and chocolate covered peanuts - delicious!
# 10 - Mitchell's - I actually skipped this one since I live only 2 blocks away and have had more than my fair share of their delicious ice cream. BK and HK ended up waiting for 45 minutes for their turn to order! BK deemed Mitchell's his favorite of the day.
Last stop - my apartment for some salt injections courtesy of Henry's Hunan Chinese Food.
The ice cream adventure is not for the weak willed (or weak stomached). Although we didn't finish every cup we ordered, it was still a ton of ice cream. Very fun day, though!
